Ileostomy Reversal.........DONE!!

Well, Its all done now. My final operation has been a success and I am now free from Colostomy, Ileostomy and Bag. Hoorah !!!

I am 3 weeks post op and recovering slowly but surely. To be perfectly honest, it hasnt sunk in really that its all over. I am constantly tired at the moment, maybe due to relief and the enormity of what has happened over the last ten months is now hitting me quite hard.

I feel that its all been a bit of a blur, constantly trying to get better, in and out of hospital for operations, recovering again and then again but I have got through, I have reached the finishing line and it will only be a matter of time when I can finally celebrate and move on with my life.

Thank you for sharing your story in your online journal. Many, including me, have benefited from it I'm sure. My husband was diagnosed with colorectal cancer a year ago and has had an ileostomy since December. His reversal is coming up early September. I'm wondering... how are you doing after the reversal? How was that procedure? Was the recovery difficult?

You are a beautiful woman and I admire you courage... thank you again for sharing.

Best wishes to you for a happy healthy life.

I am amazed at how brave you have been through all your operations. I admire you! I have had 3 surgeries and three infections. My latest infection is with my closed stoma scar (I had my final reconnection December 15, 2009). I had been having severe pain in my closed stoma when the surgeon said it was probably nothing, and then yesterday at work a small hole opened up and pus and blood came out. Today the doctor opened it a little more and stuffed it with gauze, what a ride this has been, yet I have not gone through as much as you and so I beleive you are one of the strongest persons around. Kudos to you, and good health.
